I was recently asked to donate some studio time to a social media campaign for ‘Voices of Women’, a not for profit service located within the Shire of Yarra Ranges.
Voices of Women wanted to create a campaign to encourage voters within the shire to focus on diversity, inclusion and equal gendered roles on council but they didn’t know how to do it or what to say.
After conducting a brainstorming session, I very quickly realised that their brand sat within the realm of education. Whatever they did within the circle of their brand, it needed to provide information that made their audience think, and educate them to vote accordingly. In this case, a set of rhetorical questions were developed to create a consistent message and range of social media graphics for the campaign concept ‘Did you know…’
Did you know… that there’s only one woman on council?
Did you know… that there’s no-one under 40 on council?
Did you know… that there is no LGBTQI representation on council?
Did you know… that women who are elected to office are more responsive to constituents’ concerns?
There are 14 statements in total designed very simply using typography and the existing colour palette within the original Voices of Women logo design provided.
Simple, clear and memorable.
At times this type of work can feel somewhat overwhelming…
What do I want to say and how do I want to say it?
